Trip Notes

I arrived at the park with Tyler just before 10. It was forecast to be a washout with some thunderstorms so I left my new camera at home in favour of my point-and-shoot. I mostly just wanted to get some nice walks through the park, not really expecting to get on any rides. They were also advertising half-off the special brownie Beavertail for Splashworks opening day today so I wanted to take advantage of that deal.

Miners Cafe has had a little more work done with a taller roof installed. I don’t think it opened Saturday but it did open up Sunday. Mess Hall near Splashworks is still not ready.

There’s a lot of geese enjoying the green space here and along the Orbiter path. It’s a very pleasant sight.

Splashworks did open for the day but closed early at 1.

Unsurprisingly, the Splashworks Beavertail location was closed so we couldn’t get the 50% off deal.

The only reason I ever go into Splashworks is for the views that I can’t get anywhere else. I don’t like to pull out cameras in the water park just out of respect for people enjoying it but I hope I can get this shot on a better day with my better camera.

There was a window of about an hour or so when it actually got nice and sunny. We made it on a few rides in that time.

Eventually the rain came back and Snoopy’s Symphony of Water went on without him.

This sign in Backlot Cafe is lying.

I got a beef burrito with everything from Backlot Cafe, which was added to the meal plan this year. (It used to be just the burrito bowl.) It was very filling!

We shared a funnel cake which honestly could have been fried a bit longer as there were a few areas where it seemed undercooked.

Trip Notes

I arrived at the park just before 9 for Yukon Striker ERT.

I got a ride on Yukon Striker right away but the single rider line filled up immediately after so I didn’t bother waiting for another ride.

I got a bunch of rides in today, including Leviathan which is running well, but it was mostly a day of just walking through the park and admiring the nature… which is exactly what I said I was going to do yesterday. That’s pretty much the plan every time, I guess.

It’s Expo and Frontier Canada that I was admiring the most with the pink cherry blossom trees scattered around.

Thanks for scrolling!

I had the fish and chips from Coasters. It was nice, after a few pats with a napkin.
